What Is World Environment Day?
Put simply, World Environment Day (also known as Eco Day) is the most important day internationally when it comes to the environment and all things green. Established in 1974 by the United Nations Environment Programme and hosted annually ever since, World Environment Day is a monumental day for environmental outreach, as millions of people from all over the globe connect with a shared passion for protecting the planet.
Who Will Be Hosting World Environment Day In 2024?
There will be over 150 different countries taking part and people from all different areas of society, including governments, businesses, schools and local communities. Every year World Environment Day is hosted by a different country, with Sweden being the designated host country for 2024. As hosts, Sweden will be able to demonstrate some of the incredible environmental work that they have been carrying out for decades to combat the climate emergency, and hopefully inspire other nations to follow suit.
