A former Royal Marines Commando turned multiple award-winning business owner and public speaker, David Coleman is an open book of incredible stories, from a lifetime of adversity and how he overcame it.
David Coleman has since gone on to speak in The House of Commons for Parliament, on BBC News and delivered the keynote speech for multiple global corporations including the largest Mercedes Benz dealership in Europe at their annual business briefing despite growing up with a lifelong stammer and the inability to even say his own name only a few years ago.
David Coleman joined the Marines aged only 16 and passed the elite Commando training first time despite being the youngest member of the troop and suffering with a lifelong stammer.
He later deployed to Afghanistan aged 18 where he was blown up by a Grenade causing multiple injuries to his neck, face, body and legs.
David refused to accept that the fight was over for him and re-deployed back to the front line only a month after the explosion to re-join his troop.
Unfortunately, David contracted a very rare flesh-eating disease on the frontline and was sent back to the U.K. for further medical care.
Having experienced so much at such a young age, DavidтАЩs mental health declined and following a suicide attempt and losing multiple close friends, was diagnosed with severe anxiety, depression and PTSD which led him into addiction.
This is something he speaks openly about to help educate others in a similar position to get the help they need and also recover.
After living with a severe stammer his entire life and the knock on mental effects of this, David persisted to work on his speech until the stammer was all but gone to inspire others with speech impediments or any setback in life that the impossible can be done, and through persistence and perseverance anyone can learn to talk again.
David has now fully overcome his stammer despite being told he would never be able to do so.
