Jack Pepper (b.1999) has been nicknamed ‘The King’s Composer… the next Andrew Lloyd Webber’ (Daily Mirror, 2025). He is one of the UK’s youngest commissioned composers and youngest-ever national radio presenter.
Jack was writing for orchestras professionally in his early teens. He has written music for HM King Charles III, the Royal Opera House and Classic FM; organised Proms at the Royal Albert Hall; and presents weekend breakfast on Magic Radio’s Magic Classical, having helped design and launch its predecessor Scala Radio – the UK’s third national classical music station – aged just 19.
He has been a BRIT Awards judge since his teens and a published author since his early 20s; ‘Raising The Roof’ tells the colourful story of classical music to a young audience.
In 2025, Jack was named one of The King’s Foundation’s 35 Under 35, recognising young ‘makers and change makers’ who represent the changes His Majesty wants to see in the world. He was also named one of The Radio Academy’s 30 Under 30 back in 2019.
Music education and access are a core passion, having attended a state school and not come from a musical family. Much of Jack’s work is based on a DIY approach to learning, led by curiosity and entrepreneurship.
This inspired Jack Pepper to create the Thank Your Music Teacher campaign, which ran with charity Music For Youth for two years at the Royal Albert Hall; 3000 young people from across the UK and across genres came together to perform at the Youth Proms, with Jack personally enlisting campaign support from the BBC, The Times, and endorsements from Keir Starmer, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Nile Rodgers and Marcus Mumford. He appeared on BBC Radios 2, 3 and 4 and on The One Show.
Jack also has a musical – Gulls & Buoys – that tours schools in areas that lack arts provision every summer.
