Lord Chris Holmes of Richmond lost his sight overnight at fourteen. Within a year he was competing internationally. By twenty, he had won six gold medals at a single Paralympic Games, a British record that still stands, and broken 35 world records, as well as earned an MBE for services to sport. The philosophy, discipline and experience forged in those years of precision goal-setting, high-performance team leadership, and the ability to make decisive choices under pressure, have defined every chapter since.
After a career as a commercial lawyer and a pivotal role as Director of Paralympic Integration for the record-breaking London 2012 Games, Chris was appointed a Life Peer in 2013. In the House of Lords he has become one of Britain’s foremost voices on frontier technology, introducing the Artificial Intelligence (Regulation) Bill in 2023, driving the Electronic Trade Documents Act into law, and authoring the influential DLT for Public Good report. He sits on the Communications and Digital Select Committee and advises government on digital innovation and inclusion.
Recognised with the Alan Turing Award for his contributions to AI governance and blockchain innovation, Chris Holmes speaks on AI, quantum, cyber, digital assets and tokenisation, not as an observer but as someone who is part of drawing up the regulatory architecture.
