About
Avye Couloute
Avye, a 16-year-old student, is a multi-tech award-winner, maker, social entrepreneur, female tech advocate, workshop leader, and the founder of Girls Into Coding.
Aware of the gender imbalance in STEM education & occupations, she works tirelessly to create tech opportunities for young people.
Noticing that most attendees at her workshops were boys, she was determined to involve more girls in tech. In 2018, at just 10 years old, she established Girls Into Coding (GIC) – a program of free events where girls aged 10-14 explore coding, robotics, physical computing, engineering & 3D printing.
Her efforts have positioned her as a visible female role model for other girls, inspiring them to pursue tech & engineering careers.
She showcases her tech projects at public events, both local and international, leads regular workshops, guest speaks, writes blogs, and has been featured in numerous articles and interviews celebrating her contributions to tech. Additionally, she has won tech competitions, fundraised for physical computing kits & books for girls, and designed robotic kits for her events.
Her goal is to engage at least 1000 girls annually through hands-on tech workshops, spanning robotics, coding, engineering, physical computing, 3D printing, and more.
Having conducted workshops for hundreds of girls, she addresses the gender gap in STEM and enhances the opportunities for under-represented and disadvantaged girls. To date, she has directly impacted 3000+ girls in tech & engineering from 16 different countries.
She emphasises the positive impact of tech through workshops focusing on the environment, sustainability, climate change, renewable energy, and the circular economy. In 2022, she became a project influencer with the DesignSpark-RS team, further expanding her influence in the tech community.
She has garnered several awards, including The Royal Academy of Engineering Excellence Award for Outstanding Pupil, the UK Young Engineer of the Year, and Forbes 30 under 30, all of which amplify her passion for technology and engineering.
The opportunities provided by her program foster girls’ confidence, resilience, problem-solving skills, and sense of belonging in tech settings.
Advocating for diversity in tech, she believes in the value of young ideas and encourages all girls, regardless of their background, to embrace coding and digital skills development.
Avye is a hugely inspiring speaker who through her own story, encourages young women to pursue STEM careers. She has spoken for WeAreTechWomen on several occasions, both in the UK and globally. Despite her young age, Avye has been campaigning in this area for over five years and holds a number of awards for her work. Avye is highly regarded by the tech community in the UK as one of the leading lights in the STEM industry – she is a joy to know and work with. I highly recommend Avye as a speaker and look forward to seeing her grow further into her role as an ambassador for STEM careers.

Her dedication and commitment led her to win a Global Youth Award in 2022 for Empowering Innovation and we have been so impressed with her commitment as a Global Change Ambassador for RoundTable Global, that we invited her to present the Empowerment Category at our 2023 awards at Troxy London. Avye did a fantastic job introducing the finalists and winners, presenting awards for Leadership, Innovation and Change. She would be an asset as a speaker at any event or on a discussion panel representing youth voices.
